M1A1ED/SA Abrams Advanced Technician Training
The Sustainment Training Center (STC) can train your ARNG Full-Time Maintenance Technicians & M-Day Traditional Soldiers in the Inspection, Troubleshooting and Repair of the M1A1ED/SA Abrams Main Battle Tank. STC has developed an 80 hour M1 Training Package. The core fundamental teaching point of this course is focused towards troubleshooting and diagnosis procedures. A hand on instruction coupled with classroom instruction is the primary method of instruction. This training ensures the student leaves the course with the knowledge to adequately identify problems and implement correct repairs. The maintenance training is not MOS producing, but is quality instruction that will provide your ARNG Maintenance Technician & M-Day Traditional Soldiers with the necessary skill sets to maintain the M1A1ED/SA Abrams Tank systems.
This course contains instruction in conducting troubleshooting procedures utilizing the embedded diagnostic system of the M1A1 tank for both the Hull and Turret System. The student will receive instruction on the components of the embedded diagnostics system and how they interact with the tank systems. Particular attention is given to the area of how to use the Maintenance Support Device (MSD) and troubleshoot the tank with the Embedded Diagnostic Software. The technician will receive instruction on how to trace schematics, perform DSESTS operations and troubleshoot the M1A1ED/SA Tank.
